6 Easy Steps To Feeling Healthy Again

Can you believe it is almost January? How healthy do you feel as 2017 comes to an end? So many of us are planning our upcoming year and setting goals or “resolutions”. I am not a resolution person as I always see to quit them… or, just never start. Self-care is something I do need to focus on next year, especially with yet another human entering the world who will depend on me to give them all of my love. In order to be a great mom, taking care of yourself should be a top priority. I’ve quoted it before but it’s so true, you can not pour from an empty cup. If you run yourself into the ground, then you may need to take some time out to revitalize yourself again.

So what can you do? Quitting your job and going on a trip around the world for a holiday may sound great but not realistic. A healthier and happier version of yourself is completely achievable without handing in your resignation. What you do day to day can change the way you think and feel and it doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Here are the main things you should be focusing on.

What you eat is what you are. Don’t worry, you won’t turn into a banana but paying close attention to what you’re eating comes with massive benefits. It can be a step you need to take towards a healthy lifestyle and can reduce your risk of heart disease and cancer. Clogging your arteries with fatty food can be a disaster for your insides. You may look to be a healthy weight but your body internally could be screaming. Five a day and plenty of water can make you feel physically and mentally stronger. Make sure your getting all the vitamins you need. If you don’t have good nutrition it can cause you to feel exhausted. Booking yourself in to see a nutritionist can be a good way of knowing the facts behind what’s healthy and what’s not. There are plenty of online diet plans you can be following that won’t cost you a penny to download.

Getting exercise won’t only make you look good but will also help you feel good. Working towards a happier healthier you is about looking after your body. It’s like a machine that you need to keep well oiled. Daily exercise works best. Choosing to walk to the shops instead of taking the car is a step in the right direction. Joining a gym is a fun way of meeting new people and training with expert equipment that would otherwise be too expensive to buy for your home. Try getting yourself into a routine to achieve the best results. A good chat with a personal trainer is a good place to start and they often give a free workout session to see if you like it first. You could even treat yourself and combine a trip to the gym with a spa day. If you’re into watching sports then why not join a club. You will be breaking a sweat without even realizing it. Sports are a great way of blowing of steam and lowering your levels of stress.

Oral healthcare

Brush those teeth at least twice a day and use a fluoride toothpaste to do it. Be careful of when you decide to do it though. If you brush too soon after eating acidic foods or drink then you could be brushing away enamel. It’s important to floss as well and a quick rinse with mouthwash won’t hurt either. Good oral hygiene is a great way of avoiding a large bill from the dentist. Not only that but you’ll also be avoiding nasty diseases that can become extremely painful. If you feel that your smile isn’t shining bright enough then you may want to look into whitening them. Ideal Dentistry offers a great range of cosmetic services. It’s never too late to get braces and a mouth retainer could be an option for straightening out your teeth through the night whilst you sleep. It would be best to seek the professional opinion of an orthodontist or dentist for this.

Sight and sound

Taking care of your vision is one of the most important things you can do. Booking an appointment with an eye care professional is a good idea. They will be able to tell you how healthy your eyes are. You may discover that you need glasses or contact lenses. Day to day you can avoid damaging your eyes by wearing sunglasses when necessary, have good lighting in your place of work, rest your eyes and even be eating the right foods. Your hearing is equally important. Again getting a test to check where your at is a good option to know if you could be making your life easier with the help of a hearing aid. Avoid sticking awkward objects and cotton swabs in your ears when cleaning them. War earplugs in loud environments an turn down the volume when watching the television or listening to music.

Skincare

Be kind to your skin it’s the biggest organ you have. A good skin care routine can help you avoid acne. One spot or two can be easily dealt with but if you have broken out all over your body then it could be time to seek help from a doctor. Moisturising your skin will keep it hydrated and smooth. There is a wide range of brands out there to choose from but make sure your skin is reacting well to them. First, check with a small dab before you cover your entire face. Talking to a dermatologist for expert advice will be a good idea.

Take some time to figure out the best way to care for yourself in the upcoming year… even if its something small, every ounce of time and love you give yourself will help you be your best you.
