I was so shocked and excited to see a fellow coffee lover and blogger had nominated me for The Sunshine Blogger Award! The blogging community has been incredibly welcoming and supportive. I am shocked by the open door policy so many bloggers have regarding sharing strategy and information about being successful.
Big thanks to Crystal, author of The Cappuccino Traveler, for this nomination and for introducing me to so many wonderful bloggers. I am two weeks into this adventure and I am enjoying every darn moment. I set some pretty big goals for myself with this long-term and I’m ready to achieve them. One of the more important ones is to put myself in a position to make a difference in this world, to help people live a happier life, even with you have 3 kids under 5 and you don’t remember the last time you showered. A nomination like this is so energizing! Thanks Crystal!!
The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to bloggers by other bloggers who feel they are creative, positive and inspiring. Once nominated, the blogger is to write a post in which they:
- Thank the blogger who nominated them and link back to their blog.
- Answer the 11 questions asked by the blogger who nominated them.
- Nominate 11 other blogs and give them 11 new questions to answer.
- Notify your nominees and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post.
My Answers to Crystal’s Questions
How long have you been a blogger?
I launched my blog 16 days ago, its been such a fun adventure already. Top secret info, I’ve had 3 other blogs before this. Each time I started a blog, I got pregnant soon after and was too sick to stick to it. 3 blogs, 3 kids… with my 4th blog now, you can understand I’m a little on edge 🙂
What made you want to start a blog?
My husband once gave me some advice that I will never forget, “when contemplating your new career, follow your efforts. What is it that you would do until 3am and not even think twice? That is what you should do with your life.” I have always wanted a communication outlet where I could, hopefully, help others be their best selves. The blog business seems like a perfect medium to do so and I am so thrilled to have a time in my life where I can jump into this dream full speed.
What do you hope to accomplish with your blog?
I am here to make a difference. I have been a successful business woman, a mom of three and formerly a Division 1 collegiate athlete. I’m a determined person who takes on too much and recently hit a point where I was unhappy, unmotivated and quite frankly, not myself. I simplified our lives and made a decision to do more with less and be more intentional. Things have changed so much for us since that day and I hope to share the wealth of knowledge I have learned as well as chronicle our future adventures towards maintaining this better life. I wish and hope to make this my full-time job, to bring in an income that will allow me to give our children an adventurous life with their parents home to see them grow and develop into the people they will become.
What is your favorite coffee drink?
The first one I drink in the morning. No really, I would say my very favorite coffee drink is a cappuccino in general. The best coffee I ever enjoyed was an iced coffee with a splash of almond milk in Seattle at Cafe Ladro. If you haven’t been… GO!
What is your favorite hobby?
I am so engrossed in being a mom that I have sort of lost touch of what I like to do- if I am being honest. Part of my goals right now is to continue to find myself. That said, I do like to draw and hike but absolutely love to be at the beach. We are a beach family and all things beach make me happy: paddle boarding, attempting to surf, collecting seagrass with the kids etc.
Name a famous person you would love to meet?
If I could meet anyone it would probably be Mary Queen of Scots, assuming a famous dead person counts 🙂 She lived a fascinating life and I have read so many historical fiction novels about here that I would love to know the truth.
How many siblings do you have?
I have two siblings, my incredibly charming, little brother who is a budding financial guru in Manhattan and my sister who is my best friend and auntie to my three crazy children. She and I had 5 kids in 4.5 years so we lean on each other daily for support, and coffee. I couldn’t be luckier to have her 10 minutes away.
If you could only take one thing from your home, what would it be?
As far as material things go, if I could only take one thing from my home it would be our Grimm 12 piece Rainbow Stacker… an heirloom style wooden toy that everyone in our house loves to play with. So, so many fun memories playing together with that one toy. Someday I will give it to my grandchildren which is an amazing and scary thought 🙂
Favorite way to relax at night?
Snuggled on the couch with my husband watching How I Met Your Mother or This Is Us with a Leinenkugel and a small piece of dark chocolate. Pure bliss! Second favorite would be reading in my bed with no littles pulling me in 10 different directions.
The person in your family that inspires you the most?
My husband inspires me in ways I never knew possible. His approach on life is one of confidence and passion. He is always true to himself, he NEVER complains (its sort of annoying actually) and he is the reason we adventure outdoors the way we do… our kids are so darn lucky.
What do you most want to be known for?
I want to be known as someone who loved her kids and tirelessly raised them to be kind & happy people. I want to be known as genuine and loving, as a hard worker and as someone who gets things done when she sets her mind to it. Mostly though, I want to raise good people.
I nominate the following 10 Bloggers who inspire me everyday!
Amy at Cooking 1 Handed
